WHAT IS ACUPUNCTURE?

Acupuncture is the insertion of hair-thin sterile needles into specific areas on the body, known as acupoints, in order to achieve a therapeutic effect. These points are located along energy meridians that connect to specific body parts or organs, and each point carries a unique function. Acupuncture is an all-natural, non-toxic, safe, effective, and generally pain-free healing modality.

While acupuncture is the most widely known modality of Chinese medicine, it is just one of the five pillars of Chinese medicine. They include: Acupuncture & Moxibustion, Herbal Medicine, Nutrition, Movement, and Massage. All 5 pillars work in harmony for your healing, and you can expect your acupuncture sessions to include any combination of these modalities.

WHAT IS CHINESE MEDICINE?

Chinese Medicine is a system of health care that has been around for over 4000 years. It is utilized world-wide to address a myriad of physical, mental, and emotional ailments. It consists of modalities such as acupuncture, gua sha (scraping), fire cupping, moxibustion, tui na (Chinese massage), herbal remedies, ear seeds, dietary & lifestyle recommendations, qi gong, sound healing, and more.

Chinese medicine views the body, mind, and spirit together, acknowledging that disharmony in one leads to disharmony in the others. It has its own unique theory and treatment principles, and is incredibly individualized to address each patient’s specific concerns. Through a thorough symptomology assessment and physical evaluation, a Chinese medicine doctor is able to find and address the root cause of dis-ease within the body, mind, and spirit.

The WHO and the NIH endorse Chinese medicine as a safe and appropriate treatment strategy with minimal to no side effects for over 100 different conditions, and Chinese medicine is used for even more than that.
