ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture is part of a broader system of health care that is known as Chinese Medicine. Chinese medicine views the body, mind, and spirit together, acknowledging that disharmony in one leads to disharmony in the others. It has its own unique theory and treatment principles, and is incredibly individualized to address each client’s specific concerns. Through a thorough symptomology assessment and physical evaluation, a Chinese medicine doctor is able to find and address the root cause of dis-ease within the body, mind, and spirit.

Acupuncture, itself, is the insertion of hair-thin sterile needles into specific areas on the body, known as "acupoints", in order to achieve a therapeutic effect. Acupuncture is an all-natural, safe, effective, and painless healing modality.

The WHO and the NIH endorse Chinese medicine as a safe and appropriate treatment strategy with minimal to no side effects for over 100 different conditions, and Chinese medicine is used for even more than that.

Examples of conditions that respond very well to acupuncture:

Mental and Emotional health—anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma release, brain fog, memory or concentration issues, insomnia, fatigue, stress, nervousness, ADHD, grief, anger, worry, fear, addiction, etc.

Reproductive health—male and female infertility, irregular menstruation, PMS, PMDD, pregnancy & postpartum support, morning sickness, UTIs, yeast infections, etc.

Pain Management—chronic or acute pain, headaches, migraines, sciatica, arthritis, post-op recovery, sports training recovery, low back pain, etc.

AND MORE!

WHAT TO EXPECT

During your first appointment, Dr. Cat will conduct an evaluation of your health history, your chief concern, your health goals, and a Chinese Medicine physical examination, followed by your first acupuncture treatment! After your treatment, Dr. Cat will provide you with her recommended treatment plan based on your chief concern and health goals.

She will also be sure to answer any of your questions.

Once acupuncture needles are inserted, they are retained for around 45 minutes. It is normal during this time for you to experience sensations of tingling, temperature fluctuations, itching, or a dull achey pressure around the sites of the needles. All of these are normal and expected sensations. During a treatment, most people report feeling relaxed, feeling like they are floating, or feeling like they have a weighted blanket on them.
